August Dinner 2019

For the August event, the club is pleased to announce that we are going to be Social and dine way north in Jing’an District at The Commune Social.

This is the second restaurant in town to bear the Jason Atherton brand on its masthead. The Commune Social is a contemporary tapas, dessert and cocktail bar. Dishes exhibit a variety of flavours from Spain, England and all over Asia with highlights such as roasted bone marrow with beef cheek, salt and pepper squid dusted with crushed Sichuan peppercorn and more.

For the July event, the club is pleased to announce that we are going Italian, and dining at Frasca located at Swire Hotels, The Middle House.

Frasca is a modern Italian eatery, with ingredients sourced either locally or from the finest appellations in Italy. The man in the kitchen here is Marino D’Antonio, who moved to Shanghai in December 2018 after six and half years running Opera Bombana in Beijing, the sister restaurant to Shanghai and Hong Kong’s 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana

June Dinner 2019

For the June event the club will going to headliner of The Middle House Hotel, Café Gray Deluxe, the half-moon shaped restaurant hugging the outside of Taikoo Hui Mall. Café Gray is the sister restaurant to the iconic Café Gray Deluxe at The Upper House in Hong Kong. We will enjoy Chef de Cuisine Peter Lin’s own take on Chef Gray’s modernised classic cuisine in the private room, after which we will move to the lovely terrace for post meal drinks and cigars.

As this will be the handover event to welcome the new committee, and as space is limited, this will be a member only event and limited to 22 people, should there be space, guests will be welcomed once all members RSVP’s have been received.

April Dinner 2019

On Friday April 19th the Shanghailanders will be heading to the former Concession area of Shanghai to visit RAC for the first time.

The club is looking forward to tantalise and test your taste buds with some of the most innovative food in Shanghai paired with an array of wines that are sure to surprise and delight.

The club has secured the entire restaurant which has a courtyard for post dinner cigar enjoyment.

RAC is a wine bar so any attending guests who would like to contribute a bottle of something special for post dinner enjoyment would be most welcome.

The evening is limited to 26 pax.

The club is delighted to advise, that the Shanghailanders have been able to once again secure the much sought-after Villa Le Bec as the venue for the clubs’ dinner on Friday March 15, 2019.

The event is a Shanghailanders MEMBERS only dinner, and limited to 18 persons, members will be dinning in the private Buddha Room of Villa Le Bec, with pre-dinner cocktails taken in the garden, subject to the weather.

December 2018 Annual Black-Tie Dinner

The Clubs event in December will take place on Friday December 7, 2018 at the Waldorf Astoria on the Bund, as always, the December event is a Black-Tie Dinner affair, as in prior years, partners are invited to attend the event, along with guests of members, and their partners as well.

We realise this is some six weeks away, but wanted to ensure that this marked in your calendars, and time enough to get your glad rags prepared, or perhaps a visit to your tailor.

Following a successful debut in Beijing in 2016, the second experience store in China, Mercedes me Store, The Bund has opened at the iconic Bund Finance Center in April 2018.

As for the Western restaurant M.E , the culinary spinoff courtesy of the luxury German automaker offers creative fusion international cuisine with the theme of “Respect the Mother Nature”.

Perfect for guests seeking a NOVEL and refined dining experience, the ambiance and dishes showcase a balance between presentation and gastronomic aptitude.

Howard Whiteson is working with the culinary team of Mercedes me Store in preparing a dining experience for B&B members.

Dry-age cuts of beef are imported from Australia and the restaurant pays dutiful attention to little details like a selection of cutlery and sea salts.

The upstairs bar is also an attraction with its panoramic, unobstructed riverside views.
